Honoring Darrell Crall

The 6th Annual Ewing Charity Classic, a fund raising golf tournament conducted by the Northern Texas PGA (NTPGA) for the benefit of the NTPGA Junior Golf Foundation, was held on Monday, November 28, 2011 at Northwood Club in Dallas. This year’s event raised $147,500.00.

The Ewing Charity Classic has a tradition of recognizing the career accomplishments of golf’s greatest ambassadors and players who have roots in Texas.  This year the event honored Darrell Crall, executive director of the Northern Texas PGA Section from 1995-2011.  Among Crall’s greatest accomplishments with the Northern Texas PGA during his tenure included the growth of the Section’s assets by 15 times.  Crall is now the senior director of the PGA of America’s Golf 2.0.  In his new position Crall oversees the execution of the PGA’s new strategic plan to grow the game.

The Ewing Charity Classic featured 15 teams consisting of three amateurs, a tour player and PGA of America golf professional. Past and present  PGA TOUR and LPGA Tour stars that participated in the event included Chad Campbell, Charles Coody, Jason Enloe, Harrison Frazar, Hunter Haas, Todd Hamilton, Mina Harigae, Brandt Jobe, Justin Leonard, Bruce Lietzke, Gerina Piller, Bill Rogers, Lee Trevino, Lanny Wadkins, and D.A. Weibring.

Professionals D.A. Weibring and Ronny Glanton teamed with amateurs Doug Brooks, Guy Constant and Joe Taylor to card a 10 under-par total of 132 to capture the Ewing Charity Classic. The scoring format was the low net ball of the three amateurs added to the professional team (listed in upper case) score playing a modified alternate stroke. Complete results follow (professional score – amateur score – total).
