The Colony, TX – Teams of Hudson/Sepmoree and Farmer/Bingaman are Co-Champions of the KBS TOUR Shafts Pro-Assistant Championship. Both teams shot nine-under-par on 27 holes and played two-holes of a playoff before play was suspended due to darkness.
The championship was hosted at Golf Clubs at The Tribute. Due to low overnight temperatures and a morning frost delay, the championship was shortened to a 27-hole Four-Ball Stroke Play event. Teams played Old American Golf Club and the back nine of Tribute Golf Links.
Chris Hudson, PGA head professional at Willow Brook Country Club teamed up with his assistant Katelyn Sepmoree. In a four-hole stretch on the back nine of Tribute Golf Links, Sepmoree made an eagle and three birdies. “I think I was inside of ten feet on every one of those holes," said Sepmoree. That stretch propelled their team to nine-under-par and into the lead.
Richie Farmer, PGA head professional at Bent Tree Country Club and his assistant Brandon Bingaman, PGA also finished at nine-under-par. The pairs’ day featured a spotless card with no bogeys. Farmer said, “It’s a great event for us because Danny, our director of golf, the head pro and then three assistants – it gets the five of us out here to start the year and it is always a good time.”
The championship boasted a purse of $23,000 and the winning teams each took home $2,400.
A total of 120 teams and 169 players competed in the KBS TOUR Shafts Pro-Assistant Championship presented by ahead, AT&T Byron Nelson, Club Car, Evolve Golf, Next Round and Winston Collection.
