Three teams carded rounds of 7-under-par 65 to share the lead after Round One of the WellVia Pro-Pro Championship. The teams of Dean Larsson, PGA head professional at Royal Oaks Country Club, and Jeff Barton, PGA director of instruction at Preston Trail Golf Club; Greg Gregory, PGA assistant professional at Hidden Creek Golf Course, and Brett Beaty, PGA head professional at Dallas National Golf Club; and Chad Moscovic, PGA director of instruction at Brook Hollow Golf Club, and Michael Martin, PGA teaching professional at Leonard Golf Links, are currently in the top spot.
Todd Harbour, PGA general manager at Royal Oaks Country Club, and Todd Balkin, assistant professional at Royal Oaks Country Club, sit one shot off the pace at 6-under, 66, and will try to apply pressure during tomorrow’s final round.
The four-ball stroke play Northern Texas PGA major championship features a field of 62 two-man teams comprised of PGA professionals and associates competing at Southern Trace Country Club, a par 72, 6,985-yard facility located in Shreveport, Louisiana. The Open Division is competing for $21,450 of the $29,025 overall Championship purse.
For the second year, the Championship has a Senior Division that is comprised of 14 teams with participants paired together aged 50 or older. These teams are competing for a separate $6,075 purse and playing at modified yardages. The team of Jim Henderson, PGA director of golf at Stevens Park Golf Course, and Joel Edwards, PGA Life Member, lead the Senior Division at 10-under-par 62.
The WellVia Pro-Pro Championship is presented by Adventures In Golf, AT&T Byron Nelson, Callaway Golf, Club Car, Columbia Golf, Eldorado Resort Casino Shreveport, Golf ScoreCards, Inc. and Lorente Golf.
